Grounded

Grounded is a studio portrait project exploring the body as an elemental surface. Through my exploration in applying makeup, skin is transformed with textures resembling metal, minerals, and sediment, creating a visual transition between human flesh and the materials of the earth.

Inspired by the theatrical gesture of Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, the work uses pose, fabric, and controlled studio light to create a modern sense of sacred drama. The figures are not placed within nature; instead, the body becomes the landscape — marked by minerals, metal, and sediment as if human flesh and earth are becoming one surface.
